After all  the little flood that Davao city been through. The city that never sleeps is trying to stand up again. Davao has many stores everywhere the economy here stand still the same even there were flood in some places in Davao. Our city is booming from tourist because of our plenty of places to chill at. Like Eden at Toril or Phil. Eagle at Calinan or Croco Park at deiversion Road. Davao has big hotel, the Marco Polo A five star hotel located at corner Claveria Roxas Ave. Davao, just like many major cities in Mindanao, is a typhoon-free zone. The all-year round predictability of its tropical weather (sunshine by day and occasional rain showers by night) makes the place conducive for business, leisure, agriculture and other worthwhile activities.
The new Davao International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the Philippines and also serves as gateway to the sub-regional trade bloc known as the East Asean growth area, with direct flights to Singapore and Indonesia.
Modern infrastructure and facilities in the city provide businessmen access to the 20-million market of Mindanao and the 56-million market of the BIMP-Eaga.

MENANDRO CHAVEZ III

The Kadayawan Festival is a yearly festival in the city of Davao in the Philippines. Its name derives from the friendly greeting “Madayaw”, a word from Dabawenyo “Dayaw”, it means good, valuable, superior or beautiful. The festival is a festival of life, a Thanksgiving for the gifts of nature, rich culture, the bounties of harvest and tranquillity of life.

Today, Kadayawan has become a festival of festivals, with a number of spin-off festivals of the region. The festivals honors Davao artistic, cultural and historical heritage, its past personified by the ancestral “Lumads”, its people as they celebrated in the streets, and the floral industry as their representative parade in full regalia in Thanksgiving for the blessings bestowed on the city. A celebration that interfaces the three aspects: tribal, industrial and arts and entertainment. The festivities are highlighted with floral floats, street dancing competitions and exhibitions setting out the island’s tourist products and services. Davao City’s Kadayawan Festival, normally held in August and filled with music, colour, revelry and grandeur, is a festival of everything bountiful in Davao.
So, if you’re looking for an enriching, fun and unforgettable experience with a uniqueness, the Kadayawan Festival is definitely one thing you wouldn’t want to miss. And If you miss the festival you will miss half of your life!

Duterte Fingers and the Inday Sara Punch

A lot has been said about the incident involving Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and Davao City Regional Trial Court Sheriff Abe Andres last July 1. If a punch of Manny Pacquiao unites a nation, Inday Sara's punch surely divided us whether it was just or unjust.

Inday Sara's three punches weren't able to bring down Sheriff Abe Andres but it surely gave him a black-eye.

There are those who say that what Inday Sara did was just right. After all, the people tasked to implement the demolition order were not considerate of the situation which struck Davao City. They also claimed that the police incited the unrest. Majority of the people in Davao City have aired their support for their mayor and wore green to show their support.

Others say that it was a clear abuse of power and a violation of the separation of powers principle. Even Commission on Human Rights Chair Etta Rosales lamented the actions of the mayor for resorting to physical assault.

The defenders and critics continue to trade barbs on this one and I can't still see an end to it.

Another thing that has caught everyone's attention is the Duterte family's love of the "dirty finger." Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte defended her daughter Inday Sara from media people who continue to slice and dice her punches. Not contented with his anger, he flashed the "dirty finger" two times as if one can't still grasp it. Then came another "dirty finger" incident given by his son Davao City Councilor Paulo Duterte to the media.

With the popularly known "Duterte Finger", the punches and the "dirty finger" have placed the spotlight on the Dutertes. Whether it was right or not, each of us will always differ. For me, the "dirty finger" was an exercise of Vice Mayor Duterte's freedom of expression. There goes the censor anyway but at the end of the day, that "dirty finger" will always exist. It may be taboo but it's reality.
